That being handled is unremarkable. Every part of grooming is a version of something a puppy has no instinct to accept: feet held, face touched, ears looked into, water applied, loud air blown at it. A puppy that learns each of those is fine when nothing bad follows becomes a dog that can be groomed anywhere by anyone. That is worth far more over fifteen years than any individual haircut, which is why we will always trade a tidier finish for a calmer puppy.
